Russian city of Novgorod in the 12th century. Sadko, a historical figure, travels around the world, leaving his wife, Lubava, at home in Novgorod and eventually returns a wealthy man. During his years of travel he amasses a fortune, weds the daughter of the legendary Sea-King and Queen of the Ocean. Upon his return, the city, its people and Lubava rejoice. The opera is filled with incredible melodies, dances and images of medieval Rus. Sung in Russian with English projected supertitles. In collaboration with Bel Cantanti Opera and The Four Seasons Dancers.
