The Olney Ballet is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We offer a variety of opportunities that give volunteers a way to expand on specialized expertise and gain education in professional live theater and show production, while helping to fulfill the organization's mission to provide cultural enrichment and arts education for the community.
Opportunities range from front of house tasks like ushering & ticket taking, to back of house functions in stage management, green room management, costuming, hair/make-up, and set building & design. Before the show begins, volunteers can support auditions and rehearsals, costuming (sewing, sorting), and event promotion.
​OBT is a certified SSL organization with MCPS, and volunteers can earn SSL hours for their time. ​

We are currently accepting applications for volunteers to support our upcoming run of The Nutcracker.
Current Opportunities: Costuming and sewing on weekends out of our practice facility at Berrend Dance Centre in Gaithersburg.
Future Opportunities: Production, back-of-house, and front of house opportunities during show week in Olney begin December 18.

What we look for in volunteers:​

14 + years of age

Transportation to Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, MD (starting December 17th) or to Berrend Dance Center in Gaithersburg, MD in the weeks leading up to, and after the show.

Ability to commit to volunteering for at least 2 shows (if volunteering for show week)

Ability to work with others and follow directions

Be respectful to dancers and others

Previous experience in theater/production preferred, but not required
